The Farmer and His Lazy Son

 25. The Farmer and His Lazy Son

Once upon a time, there was a hardworking farmer who had a lazy son. The farmer toiled day and night in the fields, planting seeds and harvesting crops, while his son preferred to lounge around and do nothing.

The farmer often urged his son to help him in the fields, saying, “Son, if you work hard now, you will reap the rewards later.” But the son would only yawn and reply, “Why work when I can enjoy my time?”

One day, the farmer decided to teach his son a lesson. He took a sack of seeds and said, “Tomorrow, I want you to plant these seeds in the field. It’s time for you to learn the value of hard work.”

The next day, the farmer left early for the market, and the lazy son was left alone with the seeds. As he looked at the sack, he thought, “It’s such a beautiful day. Why should I waste my time planting seeds when I can go play instead?”

So, instead of planting the seeds, he ran off to play with his friends. Day after day, he continued to ignore his father’s instruction. When the time came to harvest the crops, the farmer returned to find the field empty.

Disappointed, the farmer asked, “Son, where are the crops? Did you plant the seeds I gave you?”

The lazy son shrugged and replied, “I thought I would have more fun playing instead.”

The farmer sighed and said, “You see, my son, hard work is essential. If you don’t put in the effort, you will have nothing to show for it. Remember, you cannot reap what you do not sow.”

Realizing his mistake, the son felt ashamed. He promised his father that he would change his ways and work hard in the future. From that day on, he learned the value of diligence and responsibility.

Moral of the story: Hard work is the key to success; you cannot achieve results without putting in the effort.
