The Bear and the Two Friends
16. The Bear and the Two Friends
Once upon a time, two close friends were walking through the forest. They were chatting and laughing, enjoying each other's company, when suddenly, they encountered a fierce bear.
Terrified, one friend quickly climbed a tree to escape, while the other, unable to climb, fell to the ground and played dead. The bear approached the friend on the ground and sniffed him. Thinking he was no threat, the bear lost interest and wandered off into the forest.
When the bear had gone, the friend in the tree climbed down and said, “What did the bear whisper in your ear?”
The other friend replied, “The bear told me that a true friend will always be there for you in times of danger.”
The friend in the tree laughed and said, “That’s not what I heard! A true friend will be there, but if he runs away in fear, he is not a true friend!”
Realizing what had happened, the friend who had climbed the tree felt guilty for abandoning his companion in danger.
From that day on, the two friends learned the importance of loyalty and trust. They promised never to abandon each other again, especially in times of trouble.
Moral of the story: A true friend is someone who stands by you in difficult times.
