 7. The Dog and His Reflection


One day, a dog was trotting across a bridge with a juicy bone in his mouth. He was very pleased with his find and was looking forward to enjoying it. As he crossed the bridge, he happened to glance down into the water below and saw his own reflection.



But the dog, not realizing it was his reflection, thought it was another dog with a bigger bone. Wanting that bone too, he growled at the reflection and opened his mouth to bark. As soon as he did, his own bone fell into the water with a splash and disappeared.

The dog was left with nothing, neither his own bone nor the one he had tried to snatch from the water.

Moral of the story: Be content with what you have. Greed can make you lose everything.
