The Fox and the Grapes
5. The Fox and the Grapes
One hot summer day, a hungry fox was walking through a vineyard. As he wandered, he noticed a bunch of ripe, juicy grapes hanging from a vine. His mouth watered at the sight, and he immediately wanted to eat them.
The grapes were hanging high, just out of reach. Determined to get them, the fox jumped as high as he could, trying to grab the grapes. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t reach them.
He jumped again and again, but the grapes remained beyond his grasp. After several failed attempts, the fox finally gave up. As he walked away, he muttered to himself, “Those grapes are probably sour anyway. Who wants sour grapes?”
And with that, the fox left the vineyard, pretending he didn’t care about the grapes he couldn’t reach.
Moral of the story: It’s easy to despise what you cannot have.
