The Golden Egg

6. The Golden Egg

Once upon a time, a poor farmer lived in a small village. He had very little, but he did own a special goose. One morning, when the farmer went to check on the goose, he was amazed to find that it had laid a golden egg.

The farmer couldn't believe his luck! Every day, the goose laid one golden egg, and soon, the farmer became very wealthy. He sold the golden eggs, and his life improved greatly. However, as his wealth grew, so did his greed.

One day, the farmer thought to himself, "If the goose lays a golden egg every day, it must have many golden eggs inside of it. Why should I wait for just one egg a day? I could have them all at once!"

Driven by greed, the farmer decided to cut open the goose to get all the golden eggs at once. But when he did, he found nothing inside. The goose was just like any other, and now, he had lost his source of wealth forever.

The farmer regretted his decision, but it was too late. His greed had cost him everything.

Moral of the story: Greed can lead to loss. Be patient and content with what you have, or you might lose it all.
