The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs

 9. The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who had a goose that laid one golden egg every day. The farmer was very lucky and became rich by selling the golden eggs. Day after day, the goose would lay a single golden egg, and the farmer's wealth grew.

However, over time, the farmer became greedy and impatient. He thought, "If this goose lays a golden egg every day, then there must be many golden eggs inside of her! If I cut her open, I could get all the golden eggs at once and become even richer."

Driven by his greed, the farmer killed the goose and cut her open. But to his dismay, there were no golden eggs inside—just the normal insides of any goose. By killing the goose, the farmer had destroyed his source of daily fortune.

In the end, the farmer was left with nothing, having lost both the goose and the golden eggs she used to lay.

Moral of the story: Greed can lead to ruin. Be satisfied with what you have, and don't let impatience destroy your good fortune.
