The Lion and the Mouse
1. The Lion and the Mouse
One day, a mighty lion was taking a nap in the forest. As he slept, a little mouse accidentally ran across his paw, waking him up. The lion, angry at being disturbed, caught the mouse in his big, strong claws.
"How dare you wake me up!" roared the lion, ready to eat the tiny creature.
The mouse, trembling with fear, pleaded for its life. "Please, O King of the Jungle, spare me! I am so small, and one day I might be able to help you in return."
The lion laughed at the idea that such a small animal could ever be of help to him, but he was amused by the mouse’s courage. So, out of kindness, the lion let the mouse go free.
Some time later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. Try as he might, he couldn’t free himself and roared loudly in frustration. The mouse heard the lion’s cries and ran to help. Using its tiny teeth, the mouse gnawed through the ropes of the net and freed the lion.
"You laughed when I said I would help you, but now you see that even a small mouse can be of help to a mighty lion," said the mouse.
The lion, grateful and surprised, realized that kindness can come from even the smallest of creatures. From that day on, the lion and the mouse became great friends.
Moral of the story: No act of kindness is ever wasted, and even the smallest can help the mightiest.
