The Wind and the Sun

 11. The Wind and the Sun

One day, the Wind and the Sun had a quarrel over who was stronger. They saw a traveler walking along the road below, wearing a heavy cloak. The Sun said, "Let us have a contest. Whoever can make the traveler remove his cloak is the stronger one."

The Wind agreed, and decided to go first. He blew as hard as he could, sending strong gusts of wind at the traveler. The harder the Wind blew, the tighter the traveler wrapped his cloak around him to stay warm. The Wind, frustrated, tried even harder, but the traveler just held his cloak closer and kept walking.

Then it was the Sun's turn. The Sun gently shone down on the traveler, gradually warming him with its rays. As the traveler felt warmer and warmer, he loosened his cloak. Soon, it became too hot for the cloak, and the traveler removed it entirely, continuing his journey comfortably.

The Sun had won the contest, proving that kindness and warmth are often more effective than force.

Moral of the story: Kindness and gentle persuasion can achieve more than force or aggression.
