The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
32. The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Once upon a time, in a peaceful meadow, there lived a flock of sheep. They were happy and content, grazing and playing under the watchful eye of their shepherd. However, lurking nearby was a clever wolf who was always on the lookout for an easy meal.
One day, the wolf devised a cunning plan. He decided to disguise himself as a sheep. He found a sheep's skin that had been shed and put it over his body. With his new disguise, he sneaked into the flock, hoping to gain their trust and get close enough to catch one of them.
At first, the sheep were unaware of the wolf among them. The disguised wolf bleated softly, blending in with the flock. He grazed and moved around, trying to act like one of them. The sheep thought he was just a new member of their group.
Days passed, and the wolf continued his ruse. He even made friends with the other sheep, who welcomed him without suspicion. But there was one wise old sheep who had a feeling that something was not right. He observed the newcomer closely and noticed that the wolf was slightly larger and had a different way of moving.
One day, while the flock was grazing, the shepherd came to check on them. The wolf, fearing he might be discovered, tried to hide among the sheep. But the wise old sheep spoke up, “Shepherd! Look closely at our new friend! He doesn’t belong with us!”
The shepherd approached and examined the wolf more closely. “You are right!” he exclaimed, realizing the truth. He quickly chased the wolf away from the flock before he could cause any harm.
The wolf, exposed and angry, ran off into the woods, never to return. The sheep thanked the wise old sheep for his vigilance, and they learned an important lesson about being cautious and aware of their surroundings.
Moral of the story: Beware of those who may try to deceive you by disguising themselves as something they are not. Always be vigilant and trust your instincts.
